Grab-and-cut tree control and quality cuts All of Quadco's Intermittent saw heads feature lightweight ring sawblades. Only the outer cutting ring rotates, enabling the saw to instantly develop 600 to 855 rpm cutting speeds and to stop when the operator releases the button. The head grips the tree first, the sawblade slides out through the cut, allowing the operator to maintain better control of the tree. Since the tree is held securely and the sawblade with QuadTeeth slides horizontally, the system produces level, high quality cuts at an impressive rate. These robust heads are built for shift-after-shift production. They quickly cut through tangled vines and heavy brush, clearing the way for a close-to-the-ground cut to increase the value of the first log. Stop-and-go cutting and 360° tilt : the perfect combination By stopping and retracting the sawblade after the cut, the head can be safely positioned for delimbing, topping, butt trimming, and can used as a grapple for tree handling and piling. With Quadco's patented 360° lateral tilt, the head is easily rotated into any horizontal position without having to move the machine around. Less wear on the machine, less ground disturbance, less operator effort. This versatility makes Quadco Intermittent heads excel in selective cutting, blowdown, right-of-way, steep slope, and shovel logging. Low maintenance Since the sawblade is stationary and retracted between cuts, there is far less chance of tooth damage than with a continuous rotation saw. The savings in downtime and tooth replacement cost are substantial. The disc sawblade is also considerably more robust than a chainsaw and can clean out underbush without the risk of throwing a chain. The sawblade is easy to maintain. Teeth and bolt-on tooth holders can be replaced in the field. For preventive maintenance, remove the cover plate(as shown beside) every 1000 hours to check for wear. When necessary, a complete set of bearings can be replaced in just over an hour. Popular QuadTooth® All Intermittent heads use sawblades fitted with either Concave or Beaver steel QuadTeeth. These patented, rotatable teeth are known everywhere for their long life and their ability to maintain an efficient cut throughout the life of the tooth. |
